At DARE Studios, we pride ourselves on bringing brands to life through compelling photography and video content. Our recent collaboration with Rama Rugs was no exception. Over the course of three intensive weeks, our team worked closely with Rama to capture the elegance, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of their stunning Liberty and Priory rug collections.
With 39 rugs to shoot, multiple room set builds, a hired model, and creative video production requirements, this was one of the most ambitious studio projects we’ve undertaken in recent months. Here's a full behind-the-scenes look at what went into this high-volume, high-impact campaign.
The production took place at our 4,000 sq ft Leeds-based studio, which provided the ideal space to accommodate large set builds and back-to-back shoots. To capture the rugs in real-life scenarios and allow customers to envision them in their homes, we constructed two full-scale living room sets from scratch.
Each living room set was designed with meticulous attention to interior styling, light control, and scale. From flooring textures to furniture placement and ambient props, every detail was considered to frame the rugs in a warm, lifestyle-driven setting. These sets weren’t just photo backdrops—they were immersive, liveable spaces crafted to bring the products to life.
Once the photography for the living rooms was complete, we repurposed one of the sets into a modern kitchen environment, complete with a washing machine. This allowed us to capture one of the most important selling points of the Liberty range—the rugs are machine washable. By demonstrating this visually, we helped transform a functional benefit into a compelling story.
To add authenticity, movement, and lifestyle realism to the shoot, a professional model was brought in. She was filmed walking across various rugs, allowing us to showcase scale, texture underfoot, and how the rugs lay on the floor in real-time.
An important aspect of the shoot was to capture product detailing, including the rug backing and edge finishes. The model interacted with each rug by lifting and turning corners, allowing customers to see important construction features they wouldn't otherwise notice in flat-lay images.
These natural, in-context moments helped communicate both quality and usability—an essential goal for the Rama Rugs marketing team.
A total of 39 rugs were supplied by Rama for the shoot, comprising 30 from the Liberty range and 9 from the Priory range. Each collection offered distinct design stories, textures, and colours, which meant our visual output had to be both consistent and tailored to highlight individual product strengths.
Despite the high volume of products, quality remained our top priority. Our team captured:
These weren’t just quick snaps—they were carefully composed, colour-balanced, and edited in-house to meet both ecommerce and campaign standards. From wide-angle lifestyle shots to tighter product detail images, we ensured every rug was documented from multiple angles to give the Rama Rugs team the variety they needed across web, social, and printed media.
In addition to photography, video content played a central role in the Rama Rugs campaign. Two distinct video sets were produced:
For the Priory collection, we created 9 videos—one for each rug. These videos were designed to complement the stills, offering subtle movements and transitions to provide a deeper sense of texture, colour, and scale. They were ideal for use on product pages and social media, where motion content can significantly boost engagement.
The camera work was carefully stabilised and lit, with subtle walk-throughs, zooms, and pans designed to maintain consistency across all 9 assets.
For the Liberty range, the videos were more demonstrative in nature. Only two were required, but they packed a punch:
Both videos were conceptualised, directed, and edited entirely in-house by our video production team. With full control over lighting, camera rigs, and post-production grading, we were able to deliver videos that were not only informative but beautiful and brand-aligned.
One of the reasons the Rama Rugs shoot ran so smoothly was because everything happened under one roof. Unlike on-location shoots, working in our controlled studio environment gave us:
This is a major reason why clients choose DARE Studios. With over 50 years of combined experience in photography, styling, and video production, our team thrives in high-demand, high-detail projects like this one.
The Rama Rugs project was a testament to collaborative planning, creative execution, and meticulous post-production. From the initial brief to the final image and video delivery, the project was managed with clarity and consistency.
Thanks to a close working relationship with Rama’s marketing team, we were able to align content with their brand identity while also helping them innovate their product presentation. The end result? A stunning visual asset library ready for use across:
